Burned discs and DSD

The CD 60 plays audio CDs and CD-R/RW discs, along with any MP3, WMA and AAC files they hold. It also accepts data discs burned with DSD, WAV or ALAC files, and plays DSD natively. Two selectable digital filters, numbered 1 and 2, adjust the presentation.

Symmetrical HDAM circuit

On the audio board, Marantz laid out the HDAM components symmetrically to keep the signal path as direct as possible. The output stage pairs the new HDAM module with HDAM-SA2 and delivers 2.2 Vrms through a pair of gold-plated RCA sockets. On CD, the signal-to-noise ratio reaches 118 dB, with a response from 2 Hz to 20 kHz.

High-resolution USB

The front USB-A port reads sticks formatted in FAT16 or FAT32. FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF and WAV play up to 24-bit / 192 kHz, DSD up to 5.6 MHz, and MP3, WMA and AAC are recognised too. The optical and coaxial outputs send the digital stream to an external converter.

Headphones and control

The headphone amplifier combines a fast op-amp with an HDAM-SA2 buffer, with three gain settings to suit the headphones in use. Through the RC-5 remote control bus, a Marantz network player controls the CD 60 from its app, and the MODEL 40n completes the system. Two finishes are available, Black and Silver Gold, on an aluminium-fronted casing 44.2 cm wide and weighing 7.5 kg.
