The UHD5000 uses the standard 430 mm width of hi-fi components, with a brushed aluminium alloy front panel, a frosted top cover, a reinforced base and anti-vibration feet. Behind the large LED display, two hidden NSS bays each take a 3.5-inch SATA hard drive of up to 16 TB. The power supply combines a switching unit with a large toroidal linear transformer, with separate circuits for audio and video.
A Realtek RTD1619BPD processor with four 64-bit A55 cores, backed by 4 GB of DDR4 and 64 GB of eMMC, runs Android 11. The HDMI 2.1 output sends 4K at 60 frames per second in 12 bits, with the BT.2020 colour space and YCbCr 4:4:4, in HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision, LLDV mode included. The VS10 engine maps other content towards Dolby Vision colours, and the frame rate switches automatically, 23.976 Hz included, to avoid judder.
The audio section is built around an XMOS interface and an ESS 9068 DAC, which decode DSD512, PCM up to 768 kHz in 32 bits and MQA. The analogue signal leaves through balanced XLR and RCA, with a response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz at ±0.2 dB, a signal-to-noise ratio above 121 dBrA and channel separation of more than 135 dBrA. Optical and coaxial outputs complete the set, and SACD ISO, DSF, DFF, WAV and FLAC files play back without gaps, CUE tracks included.
Two HDMI outputs split picture and sound: HDMI 2.1 feeds the TV or projector in 4K, while HDMI 1.4 sends HD audio to the amplifier you already own, with no need to replace it. Connected to a computer running Windows 10 or 11, a Mac or an Android device, the UHD5000 also works as a USB DAC up to DSD512 and PCM 768 kHz in 32 bits. Networking runs over Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 or Bluetooth 5.2, and control over RS-232, IR input, Control4 or the Zidoo Controller app for iOS and Android.
