Universal 4K UHD playback

The Magnetar UDP900 MKII plays every common physical disc: UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, SACD and CD, plus recordable media. It supports HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos for high-grade picture and sound. Beyond discs, a USB 3.0 system with a dedicated hub and isolated power reads files from sticks and hard drives, while DLNA, SMB and NFS network sharing opens access to local libraries.

Dual ESS9038PRO conversion

The audio section was fully redesigned around two ESS9038PRO converters, one for the stereo output and one for multichannel. The XMOS USB Audio input accepts streams up to PCM 768 kHz and DSD512 for detailed high-resolution playback. Outputs include a 7.1 analogue section on RCA and a stereo output on RCA and balanced XLR. Signal-to-noise reaches 130 dB on XLR, with distortion below 0.0005%.

The unit uses high-quality copper wiring and internal JST and Amphenol connectors that strengthen link stability. The HDMI audio port includes a TMDS retiming function that compensates for jitter and refines signal quality. The redesigned USB 3.0 system, with its isolated power supply, improves compatibility and transfer speed with storage devices.

Roon Ready and home automation

The UDP900 MKII is Roon Ready: it connects to Roon automatically, without configuration, for bit-for-bit playback over a flexible, reliable audio network. It supports Control4 and Crestron home-automation systems as well as Wake-on-LAN, to fit centrally controlled installations. The player measures 445 x 321 x 133 mm, weighs 15.4 kg and runs on 110-240 V mains.
