Downward-firing bass

On the Orion the 21 cm driver is not mounted on the front baffle but vertically, facing the floor. The wave leaves underneath and spreads over 360 degrees instead of being thrown in one direction. A front-firing subwoofer has a front and a back; this one does not, which removes one constraint from the installation.

From 35 to 200 Hz

Useful bandwidth reaches down to 35 Hz, and the low-pass filter adjusts up to 180 Hz. An active 21 cm 21MT rated 200 W, 400 W on peaks, holds that extension without leaning on an outboard amplifier: the electronics live in the cabinet, leaving only a mains socket and one interconnect to run.

Wood or lacquer

Three finishes reach Digistore: walnut texture, dark oak and white lacquer. The two wood textures aim at furniture rather than equipment — a subwoofer standing beside a sideboard draws less attention in walnut than in black lacquer. Cabasse's own catalogue lists a fourth, all-black shade, which our supply does not carry.
