The DHT-S218 houses two 75 mm bass drivers in its own cabinet. The bass comes straight from the bar, with no separate subwoofer to find room for. Two 90 × 40 mm racetrack midrange drivers and two 25 mm tweeters complete its six drivers.
The decoder handles Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus and linear PCM. Sound modes tailor the presentation to films or music. The Denon Dialog Enhancer brings voices forward, which helps with the news or a noisy scene.
A single HDMI eARC cable links the bar to the TV and handles its audio. An additional 4K HDMI input takes a games console or a player. Optical and analogue inputs, a subwoofer output and learning of the TV remote round off the connections.
Over Bluetooth, the DHT-S218 accepts SBC and the LE Audio LC3 codec, which cuts latency. At 890 mm long and 3.6 kg, it sits on a TV unit or hangs on the wall from its keyhole slots. Deep standby draws just 0.5 W.
