BERLIN SUB 12 houses a 12-inch driver in a sealed cabinet 38.5 cm high and 34.5 cm wide and deep. This size stays discreet in a living room while delivering a scale close to much larger subwoofers. It comes in matte black, matte white or walnut veneer.
The 12-inch long-stroke driver, firing downwards, is driven by a Class D amplifier rated at 500 W RMS and 1200 W peak. Quoted frequency response runs from 13 to 250 Hz at ± 6 dB. Soundtracks, live recordings and games gain weight and energy.
A built-in display and simple controls give access to the settings directly on the unit. The crossover frequency is adjustable from 30 to 250 Hz, phase can be tuned and delay covers 0.0 to 10.0 m, while a 3-band notch filter EQ corrects the bass in difficult rooms. Speakermatch optimises the hand-over to virtually any speaker, and Real Time Bass cuts internal processing delay to stay in sync with them.
The rear connection panel offers RCA and XLR inputs plus an RCA output, and its layout lets the subwoofer sit right against the wall. BERLIN SUB 12 is ready for MATRIX Wireless: with the optional Matrix transmitter, announced by Argon Audio as coming soon, it can go where you want it rather than where the cables allow. Switching on and standby are automatic, with less than 0.5 W drawn in standby.
