The 212 Black Label is the most powerful subwoofer in the Serie S, designed for large rooms and the most demanding systems. It comes close to the performance of a Line Array in a single cabinet, finished in Piano Black lacquer. It is sold individually and can be used alone or as a stereo pair.
The front houses two 12-inch (305 mm) active drivers whose cones use carbon fibre to cut mass and add stiffness. They are driven by a 1000 W Linear Class D monoblock amplifier that draws only 40 W at idle. The result is a large dynamic reserve, for music and film alike.
Two passive radiators complete the active drivers, so the 212 fires forwards, downwards and rearwards. The down-firing passive, with a much longer stroke, spreads the bass evenly through the room. The second one, facing backwards, climbs up the corners and gives the bass a sense of height.
The rear panel offers REL's signature Speakon high level input, the low level and .1/LFE RCA inputs and an XLR LFE input. On the output side, it provides the Speakon high level, a low level RCA output and an LFE output in RCA or XLR. Levels, the 20 to 120 Hz crossover and the phase are set on the unit. The Airship Direct port accepts the optional wireless receiver, and a Premium Wood grille can replace the supplied cloth grille.
