Heart of the Serie S

The S/850 was the first model developed for the new Serie S, and its driver and amplifier advances were carried across the whole range. Larger and more powerful than the S/550, it measures 48.8 cm wide, 41 cm high and 54 cm deep, for 42.5 kg. It is aimed at medium to large rooms, in stereo and home cinema systems, and it is sold individually.

Lightened 12-inch driver

The 12-inch active driver keeps an aluminium cone, but about 20 grams of its moving part have been replaced by a carbon fibre centre. Lighter and stiffer, it reacts faster and stays controlled at high levels. A 12-inch passive radiator, reworked to keep up with this driver, fires towards the floor.

Linear Class D amplifier

The Linear Class D amplifier combines a Class A/B power supply, built around a large transformer, with a Class D output stage. It delivers 850 W and draws only 40 W at idle. The rear panel groups the Speakon high level input, the low level and .1/LFE RCA inputs, the XLR LFE input, the level controls, the 20 to 120 Hz crossover and the phase switch.

Stereo pair and Line Array

Two S/850 as a stereo pair let you tune each side to the room's acoustics. The model can also form a Line Array of six subwoofers, three per side. It comes with a cloth grille, the Premium Wood grille being available as an option, and it accepts the Airship Direct wireless receiver.
