The HT/1205 MKII is designed for home cinema and brings the impact of a screening room into the lounge without taking over the space. Its sealed cabinet measures 41.3 cm wide, 38.7 cm high and 43.8 cm deep, for 19.6 kg. It is sold individually, in black or white.
The 300 mm long-throw driver combines a glass fibre cone with an inverted carbon fibre centre cap on a steel chassis. More powerful magnets and a revised suspension keep it under control right up to the limits of the amplifier. Response reaches 22 Hz at -6 dB in room.
The 15 mm top plate is finished in five coats of hand-polished high-gloss lacquer, with the REL logo appearing to float in the finish. The rest of the cabinet is clad in a horizontally line-grained composite, with low proportions borrowed from the Reference models. The supplied grille covers the driver for a more discreet look.
The Class D amplifier delivers 500 W RMS from MOSFET modules rated at 800 W, so it works well within its limits. The analogue input filters include a subsonic filter that starts at 8 Hz. The rear panel offers two low-level RCA inputs or one LFE input, a daisy-chain output, a crossover adjustable from 30 to 200 Hz and the optional HT-Air MKII wireless kit, sold separately.
