The HT/1003 MKII is the smallest subwoofer in the Serie HT and is designed first and foremost for home cinema. It delivers twice the output of its predecessor while keeping the speed and control REL is known for. At 36.2 cm wide, 34.3 cm high and 38.7 cm deep for 15.5 kg, it fits easily into small and medium-sized rooms. It is sold individually, in black or white.
The 250 mm long-throw driver pairs a glass fibre cone with an inverted carbon fibre centre cap, mounted on a steel chassis. Larger magnets and a suspension with an enlarged surround allow more excursion without losing control. Response reaches down to 24 Hz at -6 dB in room.
The sealed cabinet borrows the low proportions of REL's Reference models. Its sides are clad in a horizontally line-grained composite, and the 15 mm top plate is finished in five coats of hand-polished high-gloss lacquer, with the REL logo floating inside it. A grille is supplied to cover the driver.
A 300 W RMS Class D amplifier drives the woofer, backed by analogue input filters and a subsonic filter that starts at 12 Hz. The rear panel offers two low-level RCA inputs or one LFE input, a daisy-chain output, a crossover adjustable from 30 to 200 Hz and a 0 or 180° phase switch. The HT-Air MKII kit, sold separately, adds a 5.8 GHz wireless link.
