Isolating the record from the platter is a key step towards high-quality vinyl playback. A good cartridge is very sensitive and picks up interactions between the record and the platter surface. The Cork & Rubber it sits between the two to decouple them.
Standard felt mats attract dust through static and are often too thin to damp a platter, especially a metal one. Conversely, a thick rubber mat isolates the record too much, so it builds up static and produces noise and clicks.
This mat combines the acoustic control of rubber with the anti-static properties of cork. It measures 300 mm in diameter and 3 mm in thickness and fits all turntables. Its brown colour suits most finishes.
The Cork & Rubber it is available in 1 mm and 3 mm thicknesses. Pro-Ject recommends the thick mat on thin metal platters and the thin one on dense or heavy platters. The choice also depends on your personal listening taste.
