The Marantz Rise amplifier with GaN FET transistors gives the Horizon 310 W under the FTC standard and 745 W peak. It powers six drivers: a 6.5-inch Marantz Gravity woofer with a neodymium magnet, three 2-inch wideband units and two 1-inch tweeters. Response reaches down to 30 Hz at ±3 dB, and the maximum level is 104 dB at 1 m.
Connected to the TV over HDMI eARC, the Horizon decodes Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital+, in 7.1 multichannel PCM up to 192 kHz/24-bit. Marantz Mirage digital processing, developed in-house, widens the soundstage beyond the enclosure. An optical input, a pair of RCA sockets and a USB-C playback port sit alongside the HDMI socket, and the cable is supplied.
HEOS Built-in, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Bluetooth 5.4 stream TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music or TuneIn, and the Horizon joins the other HEOS devices in the home. Dual-band 802.11ax Wi-Fi or Ethernet connect it to the network, and Crestron, Control4 or AMX systems control it over TCP/IP. The optional Horizon Tripod stand, in American walnut and cast iron, raises it to listening height.
Seamless Marantz Radiance 360° EcoFiber fabric covers the whole enclosure and lets the sound through. The Horizon comes in Midnight Sky, Moon Ray and Marantz Champagne, each finish sitting on a matching natural marble base. It measures 21.0 cm wide, 38.8 cm deep and 36.4 cm high, and weighs 12.5 kg.
