HDAM-SA3 and 70 W

The Model 40n delivers 70 W per channel into 8 ohms and 100 W into 4 ohms, with an HDAM-SA3 power stage. A double-shielded toroidal transformer powers it. Response runs from 5 Hz to 50 kHz at 0.02% harmonic distortion, and a subwoofer output with a low-pass filter adjustable from 40 to 120 Hz takes a subwoofer.

Built-in HEOS streaming

The Model 40n has HEOS built in: from the HEOS app it streams TIDAL, Pandora or Amazon Music HD and shares music with the other HEOS devices in the home. The rear USB-A port plays files stored on a flash drive or disk. The supplied remote also controls a Marantz CD player.

MM phono and HDMI ARC

The turntable connects to the MM phono input and its Marantz Musical Phono EQ, with an 87 dB signal-to-noise ratio. The TV links to the HDMI ARC input in PCM, while an optical and a coaxial input take other digital sources. Four analogue inputs including phono, a REC output and a Power Amp Direct input complete the rear panel.

Aluminium front, two finishes

The aluminium front panel echoes the porthole and symmetry of classic Marantz components, with dimmable edge lighting. The knobs are aluminium and the chassis sits on a double-layer bottom plate. The unit measures 443 mm wide, 432 mm deep and 130 mm high, draws 220 W and 0.3 W in standby, and comes in Black or Silver Gold.
