The TD 202 drives its aluminium platter with a belt from an offset DC motor. The platter's damping ring settles resonances and holds a steady 33 and 45 rpm, selected electronically. Set away from the spindle, the belt keeps the motor clear of the groove.
The TP 71 tonearm carries an Audio-Technica AT 95E, factory-mounted and aligned, its elliptical stylus finer than an entry-level conical tip. The removable headshell detaches for a later cartridge change. Anti-skating is set from the start.
On the rear, a USB output digitises the record to a computer for archiving or headphone listening. The built-in switchable MM phono stage also connects the deck to a line input when the amplifier has no phono socket. The switch turns it off when the amplifier already has its own.
The TD 202 ships with a 12 V mains adaptor, acrylic cover, RCA cable, USB cable, rubber mat and manual. The chassis measures 420 x 355 x 141 mm at 3.9 kg. It comes in gloss black and gloss walnut.
