The Unico 90 is a Class AB hybrid integrated amplifier which, like the most refined valve amplifiers, uses only two stages. All the gain, and therefore the character of the unit, comes from its single valve stage, where two ECC83 and four ECC81 valves are arranged as a totem pole. The circuit does without global feedback and keeps only local feedback.
The rear panel gathers six line inputs: three RCA, two balanced XLR and one RCA bypass input. A tape output and a volume-controlled subwoofer output are added, along with 4 + 4 binding posts for speaker bi-wiring. Output resistance, below 0.4 Ω, stays resistive across all audio frequencies.
The thermostable Class AB output stage relies on six complementary Hexfet transistors, three pairs per channel. It delivers 100 W RMS per channel into 8 Ω and 160 W into 4 Ω, for a power consumption of 550 W at full power. The chassis measures 43.5 x 44 x 18 cm and weighs 20 kg. The valves are covered for 3 months, the unit for 2 years.
