The output stage rests on four JJ Electronic E88CC tubes imported from Slovakia, run on a plus-or-minus 28 volt supply and rated for ten thousand hours. Two OPA1642AIDR precede them. A 46-watt toroidal audio transformer feeds the whole unit.
Conversion uses no off-the-shelf chip: FiiO lines up 192 thin-film resistors, forty-eight per channel, in a fully differential four-way 24-bit network. The resistors are rated at 0.1 % accuracy and 30 ppm thermal drift. A GD32F303RET6 handles control, an SA9312L the USB stage.
Two single-ended RCA outputs and two balanced XLR3 outputs can run at the same time, at 1.8 and 3.3 volts RMS. Signal-to-noise reaches 112 dB on RCA and 114 dB on XLR. The unit has neither a headphone output nor a volume control: it sits between a source and a preamplifier.
An OS/NOS selector chooses between playback at the original rate and global oversampling to 384 kHz. Inputs accept 384 kHz/32-bit over USB, 192 kHz/24-bit coaxial and 96 kHz/24-bit optical, with a UAC 1.0 or 2.0 switch. Two backlit mechanical VU meters fill the front, on a chassis of 223.5 x 213 x 66.8 mm weighing 2865 g.
