Two ESS SABRE ES9028Q2M DACs each handle one channel, limiting crosstalk to less than -110 dB at 10 kHz. The USB input supports PCM up to 768 kHz at 24-bit resolution, as well as native DSD from 64x to 512x. MQA decoding is full-featured, supporting both Core and Renderer modes, and an LED indicates when a certified file is being played. The signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 115 dB A-weighted.

Two Toslink optical inputs and two S/PDIF coaxial inputs accommodate home audio sources, with the coaxial connection supporting up to 192 kHz at 24-bit resolution. The balanced XLR outputs deliver 4.2 V rms, and the unbalanced RCA outputs deliver 2.1 V rms, with a choice of fixed or variable output levels. A Ground/Lift switch handles ground loops, and the Bluetooth antenna supports SBC and aptX codecs in version 4.2.

Three reconstruction filters are accessible from the front panel: Fast, Slow, and Short Delay. Each modifies the converter’s impulse response, allowing you to adjust the playback to match the recording you’re listening to. The 6.35 mm headphone output delivers over 300 mW into 32 ohms and supports impedances ranging from 10 to 600 ohms.

The chassis measures 21.5 cm wide by 19.1 cm deep by 5.2 cm high and weighs 1.2 kg. This half-width format fits just as easily on a desk as it does in a hi-fi stack. Power consumption is capped at 12 W, and the device is Roon Tested certified.
