The RD160 gives each channel its own pair of AKM chips: an AK4191EQ handles digital filtering and delta-sigma modulation, an AK4499EXEQ the conversion, so digital and analogue circuits stay apart. An oven-controlled OCXO clock times every input, from USB and the SFP optical module to AES/EBU, and a BNC or SMA input accepts an external master clock. Three linear toroidal power supplies feed the digital stage and each channel separately. The outputs deliver 4.5 Vrms on RCA and 9 Vrms on XLR, adjustable with the knob to drive a power amplifier directly.
