Turntable from above, sub-chassis and platter

Suspended sub-chassis

The TD 1601 TP 160 continues one of Thorens' most iconic series on its suspended sub-chassis of three conical springs. This suspension isolates the arm and platter from outside influences, for precise and faithful playback. A wooden plinth and a heavy aluminium platter complete the whole.

Tonearm and SME headshell

J-shaped TP 160 arm

The TP 160 arm by Helmut Thiele, a 9-inch J-shape with SME connector, takes after classic studio arms. Its knife-edge bearing, reinforced by magnets, holds the groove with precision. The SME connection lets you change cartridge freely.

Rear XLR and RCA connections

Electric lift and touchless stop

A patented electric arm lift raises the arm gently, and a touchless auto-stop lifts it at the end of the record without touching the signal path. The electronically controlled belt drive, fed by the TPN 1600 (2 x 16 V), holds a stable speed.

Complete turntable with wooden plinth

Three finishes, XLR link

Balanced XLR outputs complete the RCA; with an MC cartridge, the True Balanced link lowers the noise. The chassis measures 454 x 369 x 180 mm at 11 kg. The TD 1601 TP 160 comes in gloss black, gloss walnut and matt oak.
