The TT MK2 takes over from the TT, Argon Audio's best-selling turntable. It arrives with an Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge already mounted and a built-in RIAA phono stage, so it can be connected directly to active speakers or an amplifier. Setting it up takes only a few minutes.
A rotary knob switches between 33 and 45 rpm. The motor has been upgraded for this MK2 version to gain stability, and a hole in the bottom of the plinth gives access to fine adjustment of its speed. The stated speed variation is ±1.5%.
The 1800 g iron platter sits on a sub-platter, a design that reduces resonances and improves stability. Drive is by belt, on an MDF plinth and a ball bearing. Wow and flutter stays below 0.06%, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 55 dB.
The aluminium tonearm has an effective length of 8.6 inches and an effective mass of 8 g, with a recommended tracking force of 3.5 g. The built-in RIAA stage can be turned off with a switch on the rear, to use an external phono stage instead. A 1.5 m RCA cable, a power supply with a 1.8 m lead and a dust cover are supplied.
