At the heart of the Amp Box DS2 is a high-efficiency class D module that uses little energy and runs cool. It delivers 2 x 100 W into 8 ohms and 2 x 140 W into 4 ohms, enough to drive demanding speakers. Its response stays independent of the load, with low output impedance.
Bandwidth extends from 10 Hz to 50 kHz, and distortion stays below 0.1% at 90 W. Pro-Ject uses the sound of tube amplifiers as the benchmark for its amps. A four-layer circuit board shortens the signal paths compared with the previous model.
An RCA input with 550 mV sensitivity takes the preamp, and an RCA loop output passes the signal on to another unit. The isolated terminals accept 4 mm banana plugs, spades or bare wire. A 12 V trigger input and loop output handles switching on.
The aluminium and metal sandwich case protects against vibration. In its aluminium version it measures 20.6 x 6.8 x 19.4 cm and weighs 1.67 kg. Magnetic side panels in rosenut, walnut or eucalyptus are sold separately, and the Power Box DS2 Amp supply can take it further.
