The Clear Cygnus comes as a pair with a blue jacket, shown here in XLR version. It replaces the Clear Light: more detailed, a little richer and firmer in the bass, according to Cardas. The maker says it is at ease at any length, balanced or unbalanced.
For the unbalanced connection, the Clear Cygnus page lists Cardas GRMO RCA plugs. The official photo shows a gold-plated plug with a knurled ring. It terminates a cable 9.76 mm in diameter, in a very supple extruded TPR jacket.
The interior view of the GRMO plug shows its internal parts. The cable it terminates takes over, in a more affordable form, the air-tube suspension of the Clear Beyond. Its four 25.5 AWG Star-Quad conductors are surrounded by LDPE tubes, then by PTFE tubes 1.618 times wider that keep the shield of tin-plated copper and enamelled wire at a distance.
Cardas photographs its CE XLR plugs here, in male and female. They are the current standard XLR termination of the balanced Clear Cygnus. In RCA, the pair is fitted with the Cardas GRMO plug.
