The Iridium comes as a pair with a black jacket, shown here with XLR connectors. It combines a Star-Quad layout with Cardas' golden-ratio copper conductors. The maker sees a balance between detail and warmth: natural treble, fluid midrange and fast bass.
For the RCA version, the model page lists the Cardas GRMO plug, gold-plated with a knurled ring in the official photo. It terminates a cable 7.62 mm in diameter, under a very supple extruded TPR jacket. The cable bends without effort between two components placed close together.
This view shows the inside of the GRMO plug. The cable reaching it has four 24.5 AWG conductors in Star-Quad, in Grade 1 OFHC copper 99.9999% pure, insulated with FEP. A hybrid shield surrounds them, made of a tin-plated copper spiral and a carbon-loaded PTFE tape.
In its balanced version, the Iridium is fitted with Cardas CE XLR plugs, its current standard XLR termination. The photo shows them in male and female. The RCA version keeps the Cardas GRMO plug.
