Two-coil mono cartridge with Shibata stylus on a tapered aluminium cantilever, built for mono LPs.

The SL Mono MK II is not a stereo cartridge wired for mono: its generator has only two coils, which respond solely to the lateral movement of the groove. Vertical movement, which on a mono record holds nothing but surface noise and wear, is not turned into signal. The background noise drops accordingly.
The Shibata profile reads original mono pressings as well as current reissues, over a longer contact edge than an elliptical. Frequency response covers 15 Hz to 32 kHz and output is 0.4 mV at 23 ohms, to be loaded from 230 ohms.
