High-output MC cartridge with Shibata stylus on a tapered aluminium cantilever, cryogenically treated parts, 8.6 grams.

The MK II replaces the cylindrical cantilever of the first S series with a tapered aluminium tube. The narrowing section increases stiffness while removing mass at the tip, where it holds back groove tracking. The benefit shows in transients and in how clearly the layers of the soundstage come through.
The SH MK II puts out 2 mV at 130 ohms, enough to drive an MM phono input loaded at 47 kilohms directly. The non-resonant body, painted in matt black elastomer resin and topped with a threaded brass plate, brings the whole cartridge to 8.6 grams.
