The Eole 4 fits in a 13 cm sphere weighing 1.3 kg. At that size a speaker goes anywhere: on a shelf, on a wall, either side of a screen, or as the surround channels of a 5.1 without having to negotiate the space. The format has held across four generations, which makes replacing an older satellite straightforward.
A 29 mm soft dome handles the treble, a 10 cm midbass driver carries the rest. Twenty-nine millimetres is wide for a satellite tweeter: the dome works lower and meets the midrange without strain, which avoids the hardening of voices heard on many micro-speakers.
Useful bandwidth starts at 150 Hz: the Eole 4 does not claim to go low on its own and wants a subwoofer for the bottom of the spectrum. That is the satellite principle, and it is what allows the 13 cm format. Sensitivity of 90 dB at 8 ohms nominal, 4 ohms minimum, sits inside what any home cinema amplifier delivers across five channels.
A sevenfold gap separates rated from peak power, 70 W against 490: the figure says what the small cone takes on a blast or an impact, where a cheap surround speaker compresses and flattens out. Two lacquers are catalogued, white and black, in the matte styling the range adopted in 2020.
