The 25 mm tweeter uses an AL-MAC dome made of aluminium, magnesium and ceramic, light, rigid and resistant to resonance. The OSW waveguide directs sound towards the listening area and reduces reflections from walls and ceiling. In front of the dome, the PPA lens aligns the phase so that all frequencies reach the ear at the same time.
The Premier 220B v2 gets a 152 mm ultra-high-excursion AL-MAG driver, larger than the one in the 120B. Its aluminium and magnesium cone is fitted with a PPA lens and relies on Gen3 Active Ridge Technology with the Vertical Mounting System. The 1-inch multi-layer voice coil, on a ventilated Apical former, withstands high temperatures.
The bass-reflex cabinet measures 37.1 cm high, 21.1 cm wide and 32.8 cm deep including the grille, and weighs 9.1 kg. This larger volume extends bass down to 36 Hz (DIN), and frequency response runs from 58 Hz to 23 kHz at ±3 dB on axis. With a room sensitivity of 91 dB, it works with amplifiers from 15 to 130 W that are compatible with 8 ohms. It is sold individually, so a stereo pair needs two.
The Premier 220B v2 is offered in lacquered Piano Black, Black Walnut and Walnut. The MDF cabinet is internally braced to avoid colouring the sound. Like the whole Premier v2 series, it is designed and engineered by Paradigm in Canada.
