The Studio 89 places its tweeter between two bass-mid drivers in an MTM layout. The narrow, internally braced cabinet measures 340 x 157 x 361 mm including terminals and weighs 7.6 kg. It comes in High Gloss Black or High Gloss White.
The two bass-mid drivers measure 4 1/4 inches, or 108 mm. Their RDT III diaphragm layers a C-CAM outer skin, a Nomex honeycomb core and a woven carbon fibre underside. They work up to 2400 Hz.
Above 2400 Hz, an MPD III tweeter with a micro-pleated diaphragm takes over. In-room response extends to 60 kHz at -6 dB. The crossover is a new design and the terminals are rhodium-plated.
Two HiVe II slot ports load the bass, tuned to 58 Hz, and in-room response reaches down to 48 Hz. Nominal impedance is 6 ohms, with a minimum of 4.2 ohms at 220 Hz. Monitor Audio recommends 50 to 300 W into 4 ohms; peak SPL reaches 113 dB.
