The Wharfedale EVO 5.2 is a three-way bass-reflex bookshelf speaker with a 6.5 inch woofer, a 2 inch midrange and an AMT tweeter. It covers 44 Hz to 24 kHz (±3 dB) and is sold individually.
The EVO 5.2 houses a 6.5 inch (165 mm) woofer in black woven Kevlar, a 2 inch (50 mm) soft-dome midrange and a 35 × 70 mm AMT tweeter in a bookshelf cabinet. The crossover points are 800 Hz and 4.3 kHz. Response extends from 44 Hz to 24 kHz (±3 dB), with bass extension down to 38 Hz at -6 dB. It comes in black, white, grey and walnut.
The bass-reflex cabinet offers an internal volume of 27.2 litres. The three-way SLPP slot port releases the bass air through the base and limits turbulence. A hybrid plinth, combining metal and wood, supports the speaker, which rests on rubber feet.
A pleated diaphragm placed between two magnets replaces the dome of the 35 × 70 mm AMT tweeter. Silentweave lines the cavity behind the diaphragm, and the elastomer ResoFrame damps each driver. The tweeter takes over the signal above 4.3 kHz.
Nominal impedance is 4 Ω, compatible with 8 Ω, with a minimum of 3.2 Ω. Sensitivity reaches 88 dB (2.83 V, 1 m) and peak level 105 dB, for a 25 to 120 W amplifier. The speaker is 497 mm high and weighs 15 kg. Wharfedale offers optional EVO 5.2 Stands.
