The Wharfedale DENTON 85 is a two-way bass-reflex bookshelf speaker with a 6.5 inch Kevlar woofer and a soft-dome tweeter. It covers 45 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB) and is sold individually.
The DENTON 85 pairs a 6.5 inch (165 mm) woofer with a black woven Kevlar cone and a 1 inch (25 mm) soft-dome tweeter. The crossover is at 3.1 kHz. Response extends from 45 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB), with bass extension down to 40 Hz (-6 dB).
The 13.5 L cabinet measures 34.0 cm high including its base, 24.0 cm wide and 28.7 cm deep, terminals included. Each speaker weighs 9.0 kg. Three finishes are offered: antique walnut, black oak and mahogany red.
Its woven Kevlar cone is mounted on a rigid die-cast chassis. The soft-dome textile tweeter uses a high-flux-density ferrite magnet. The crossover is designed for a near-seamless transition between the two drivers.
Two ports and a terminal panel are on the rear. Stated sensitivity is 88 dB at 1 m and peak level 95 dB. Nominal impedance of 4 Ω drops to a minimum of 3.8 Ω, and you drive the speaker with a 20 to 120 W amplifier.
