The Wharfedale AURA 1 is a two-way bookshelf speaker with a 5-inch woofer and an AMT tweeter. It covers 48 Hz to 22 kHz (±3 dB) and is sold individually.
The AURA 1 comes in hi-gloss black, walnut and hi-gloss white. This compact two-way model is 38.6 cm high and 24.6 cm wide, and weighs 12.5 kg. It sits on the AURA 1 Stands, sold separately.
The 5-inch (130 mm) woofer has a black woven glass-fibre matrix cone on a rubber surround. On its own it covers the bass and the midrange up to the 2.9 kHz crossover point. Its cast aluminium frame is bolted to the cabinet.
The pleated AMT diaphragm (27 × 90 mm) does not work like a piston and does not suffer the inertia of a rigid membrane. Its conductive elements sit in an intense magnetic field, under the constant control of the motor. The result is a wide bandwidth and very low distortion.
The nominal impedance is 6 Ω (compatible with 8 Ω), with a minimum of 4.1 Ω. Sensitivity reaches 86 dB and the peak level 103 dB. Drive it with an amplifier rated 25 to 100 W. The 16.5 L cabinet covers 48 Hz to 22 kHz (±3 dB) and reaches down to 44 Hz at -6 dB.
