The Wharfedale AURA 2 is a three-way bookshelf speaker with a 6.5-inch woofer, a 4-inch midrange driver and an AMT tweeter. It covers 42 Hz to 22 kHz (±3 dB) and is sold individually.
The AURA 2 comes in hi-gloss black, walnut and hi-gloss white. This compact cabinet is 56 cm high and 28.6 cm wide, and weighs 20.5 kg. Its multi-layer walls are lacquered, then polished. It sits on the AURA 2 Stands, sold separately.
A 6.5-inch (150 mm) woofer and a 4-inch (100 mm) midrange driver share the same woven glass-fibre matrix, mounted on rubber surrounds. The cast aluminium frames are bolted to the cabinet with six screws. Rubber rings damp resonances where they meet the wood.
The 27 × 90 mm AMT tweeter uses a pleated diaphragm that does not move back and forth like a piston. It takes over at 4.5 kHz, after a first crossover at 520 Hz. The response extends from 42 Hz to 22 kHz (±3 dB).
The nominal impedance is 6 Ω (compatible with 8 Ω), with a minimum of 3.5 Ω. Sensitivity reaches 88 dB and the peak level 103 dB. Drive it with an amplifier rated 25 to 150 W. Bass extension goes down to 33 Hz at -6 dB, with internal volumes of 4.8 L and 29 L.
