Power supply transformer and internal circuitry of the AV receiver

Nine amplified channels

The nine power stages are discrete, class A/B, and deliver 125 watts per channel into 8 ohms measured from 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 0.05 % distortion. Marantz fits its own HDAM modules in place of off-the-shelf operational amplifiers, with a current-feedback topology. Preamplification runs to 11.4 channels, so two more channels can go to an external power amplifier without changing the unit.

Porthole and OLED display

The front panel is metal, and the backlit porthole that marks out Marantz equipment houses an OLED screen. It doubles the two-line fluorescent display and shows the source, the decoded format or the volume without turning the television on. Two side-lights wash the panel from the front, dim enough to stay unobtrusive during a film.

Seven 8K HDMI inputs

All seven HDMI inputs take 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, with VRR, ALLM and Quick Frame Transport for recent consoles. The three outputs let a projector and a television stay wired at the same time in the main room, plus one separate zone. The rest follows: MM phono input, five analogue inputs, two optical, two coaxial and four independent subwoofer outputs.

Calibration and multiroom

The receiver ships with its Audyssey microphone and runs MultEQ XT32 calibration, the most detailed version of the system. Dirac Live can be added later by licence if you prefer that tool. For everyday listening, HEOS, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Bluetooth are built in, and three zones can each take a different source.
