A pair of Moon 888 mono amplifiers: bold presence, prodigious power and an unflinching truthfulness of tone.

The 888 delivers 888 watts into 8 ohms and 1776 watts into 4 ohms, per block. Its output transistors show a combined rating of 8 kilowatts, so the unit always works far from its limits. It is sold in pairs, one block per channel.
The heatsinks are cast in one piece of aluminium, using the processes applied to racing engines. Numerically controlled machining holds tolerances to a thousandth of an inch. The audio circuits are built into that block itself, which smothers vibration.
More than 350 000 microfarads of storage capacity back up transformers of large section. Signal-to-noise ratio reaches 120 dB at full power. Bandwidth covers 10 Hz to 200 kHz.
The speaker terminals are rhodium-plated and cut for heavy cable sections. Input sensitivity is 2.4 volts RMS for an impedance of 24 kilohms. Each block weighs 136 kilos at shipping.
