The KHV-200 carries a four-pin XLR headphone output alongside the 6.35 mm jack. A balanced link separates the grounds of the two channels completely. Distortion stays below 0.01 % at 1 kHz into 32 ohms.

A switch selects low or high gain, giving -2.66 dB or 13.64 dB at the headphone output. The setting suits sensitive headphones as well as high-impedance models. The preamplifier output follows the same principle at -11.06 dB or 5.13 dB.

Two E180F tubes and one ECC82 make up the input stage. Bandwidth covers 20 Hz to 20 kHz at ±0.1 dB and the signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 95 dB. Two RCA inputs and a Rec Out output complete the connections.

A circular window shows the tubes at work in the centre of the front panel. The unit measures 21 x 8.5 x 27.7 cm and weighs 3.6 kg. A dimmer adjusts the lighting.
