The Silver AMS 8G is designed for a Dolby Atmos system, where it adds the height dimension to the sound image. It measures 185 x 185 x 312 mm (H x W x D) and weighs 4.5 kg.
The 25 mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter sits in an optimised waveguide. It takes over at 2.8 kHz, above a 5.25-inch C-CAM RST III mid/bass driver.
Unlike the Silver 50 and 100 8G, the AMS has no port: its cabinet is sealed. In-room response runs from 82 Hz to 35 kHz, at -6 dB. Through-bolt bracing stiffens the cabinet and reduces resonance.
Nominal impedance is 8 ohms, with a minimum of 3.5 ohms around 6.8 kHz. Sensitivity is 85.5 dB for 2.83 V at one metre. Monitor Audio recommends 15 to 60 W into 8 ohms, and peak level reaches 111 dB. Finishes are High Gloss Black, Satin White and European Walnut.
