The DAC Box RS2 uses two ESS9038Q2M converters, one per channel, with separate left and right signal paths. The circuit is fully balanced, in a dual-mono layout. Over USB it plays PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512.
The fixed analogue output switches between a solid-state stage and a stage using four 6922EH tubes, to suit each listener. Eight digital filters let you shape the sound, including the optimum transient filter from the creators of MQA. MQA decoding is handled entirely in hardware.
The rear panel offers an asynchronous USB input, an I²S link over HDMI for the CD Box RS2 T transport, two optical inputs, one coaxial and one balanced AES/EBU. Analogue outputs are provided on XLR and RCA. A large front display, an aluminium remote control in the box and a choice of silver or black complete the package.
