Nothing else looks or sounds like a Nautilus. Released in 1993, it remains the Bowers & Wilkins manifesto and the origin of the technologies the brand has since carried across its range. It is offered in Black, Midnight Blue and Silver, and a colour-matching service can finish it to a sample or a swatch.
The Nautilus is a four-way design in which every driver works in its own enclosure. Bass, midrange and the two treble registers share no volume, and therefore no vibration. Each motor is left free to reproduce only what it is given.
Behind each driver, a tapered tube absorbs the energy radiated backwards, gradually. The wave dies away instead of returning to strike the cone. That idea is where the spiral shape of the cabinet comes from, and it is what gave the model its name.
Every Nautilus is made to order at the Worthing factory, by the team that builds the 800 Series Diamond. The cabinet is sprayed, polished and inspected by hand. The lead time follows from that work rather than from any delay.
