The Wharfedale EVO 5.3 is a three-way bass-reflex floorstanding speaker with two 5 inch woofers, a 2 inch midrange and an AMT tweeter. It covers 46 Hz to 24 kHz (±3 dB) and is sold individually.
The EVO 5.3 combines two 5 inch (130 mm) woofers in black woven Kevlar, a 2 inch (50 mm) soft-dome midrange and a 35 × 70 mm AMT tweeter. The crossover points are 825 Hz and then 4 kHz. Response extends from 46 Hz to 24 kHz (±3 dB), with bass extension down to 40 Hz at -6 dB. It comes in black, white, grey and walnut.
The two 5 inch woofers work in a 35.4 litre bass-reflex cabinet. The three-way SLPP slot port spreads the air output at the base to limit turbulence. A hybrid plinth, in metal and wood, strengthens the whole assembly on its feet.
The 35 × 70 mm AMT tweeter drives a pleated diaphragm between two magnets instead of pushing a dome. Behind the diaphragm, Silentweave absorbs reflections, and the elastomer ResoFrame damps the drivers of the range. This tweeter operates above 4 kHz.
Nominal impedance is 4 Ω, compatible with 8 Ω, with a minimum of 3.5 Ω. Sensitivity reaches 88 dB (2.83 V, 1 m) and peak level 106 dB. Choose an amplifier of 25 to 150 W. At 933 mm high on its plinth, the speaker weighs 21.5 kg.
