DALI SONIK 9 floorstanding speaker, three 7-inch drivers, a planar magnetostatic tweeter and a 29 mm soft dome. Sold individually, four finishes.

The SONIK 9 stacks three 7-inch Clarity Cone drivers over 1126 mm of height. Crossing at 400 Hz gives the bottom end to all three and the midrange to one, which keeps a point source at ear height. Response reaches down to 34 Hz at plus or minus 3 dB, with bass reflex tuning at 35 Hz.
The 17 x 45 mm planar magnetostatic ribbon takes over from the 29 mm soft dome above 14 kHz and runs to 30 kHz. The dome covers the range where voice legibility is decided, the planar the top octave. Splitting them keeps one diaphragm from working across two very different octaves.
A 4 ohm nominal impedance and 90 dB sensitivity ask for an amplifier that can deliver current, but the cabinet takes up to 300 W and reaches 111 dB at one metre. This is the model in the range meant for large rooms and high listening levels.
DALI recommends 20 to 120 cm between the speaker and the rear wall. The SONIK 9 weighs 24.6 kg each with its plinth and spikes, so placement is worth planning. Four finishes are available: white, black ash, natural oak and walnut.
