The 801 D5 is the summit of what Bowers & Wilkins can build. Designed for recording studios as much as for the most demanding listeners, it gathers the brand's most advanced technologies to deliver reference sound.
The diamond dome tweeter pushes the break-up frequency to 70 kHz. Housed in a Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top decoupled from the cabinet, it carries the treble with remarkable clarity, precision and openness.
The 150 mm Continuum cone, FST-mounted in a solid aluminium Turbine Head, renders voices and instruments with striking realism. The anti-resonance plug and the biomimetic surround clear the colourations out of the midrange.
The reinforced Matrix construction lowers cabinet resonance, while the aluminium Space Frame Bracing and the new aluminium top widen the soundstage. Two 250 mm Aerofoil bass drivers complete the design, loaded by a Flowport. Four finishes are available: Stealth Black, Warm White, Light Walnut and Dark Walnut.
