A QCC5181 chip receives over LC3, SBC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, LDAC and aptX Lossless, up to 2.1 megabits per second. The unit meets the LE Audio specifications and relies on a dedicated external aerial. aptX Adaptive rises to 96 kHz at 24-bit.
No off-the-shelf conversion chip: FiiO fits 192 thin-film resistors, forty-eight per channel, into a four-way 24-bit network. The path stays fully balanced from the network through the filter to the volume control. A dedicated system suppresses switching noise.
Two RCA outputs and one XLR3 output deliver 2.2 and 4.4 volts RMS, for signal-to-noise ratios of 116 and 119 dB. The coaxial and optical sockets work as inputs and outputs alike, up to 192 kHz at 24-bit and DSD64. Two USB-C ports complete the connections.
Oversampling can be set to off, 96, 192 or 384 kHz. A ten-band parametric equaliser comes with an automatic mode, unavailable during Bluetooth reception. The 1.47-inch screen shows title and artist, on a chassis of 210 x 188 x 42 mm weighing 760 g, with an infrared remote supplied.
