100 W Class D amplifier

A 100 W rated Class D amplifier powers the RS1. Standby and wake-up are automatic, with 0.5 W in standby and 7 W in typical use. The cabinet measures 270 × 250 × 250 mm (H × W × D) and weighs 6.7 kg. The RS1 also includes a soft clip protection filter.

Passive radiator cabinet

The 9.5-litre cabinet houses a 165 mm passive radiator in addition to the bass driver. It is tuned to 45 Hz. Ruark quotes a typical in-room response of 35 to 180 Hz.

Long-throw bass driver

The bass driver measures 165 mm (6.5 inches). It is a Ruark long-throw design with a large excursion.

Adjustable crossover filter

The crossover frequency is adjustable from 50 to 180 Hz. A switch inverts the phase by 180 degrees, and a level control adjusts the bass. The input is a mono RCA (2.3 Vrms maximum), and a 3 m RCA cable is included in the box. Ruark lists the R3S, MR1 and R410 as compatible speakers.
