Gloss black subwoofer with a wooden slat grille on the parquet floor of a living room

Serie S in compact form

The S/550 brings the speed and authority of REL's Serie S to the most compact cabinet in the range: 44.5 cm wide, 37.2 cm high and 50 cm deep, for 31 kg. Its 550 W Linear Class D amplifier draws only 13 W at idle. The successor to the S/510, it is designed for medium-sized rooms. It is sold individually.

Carbon fibre and 12-inch passive

The 10-inch (250 mm) CarbonAlloy active driver radiates forwards: REL replaced the centre third of its cone with carbon fibre, four times stiffer than the aluminium it replaces. Underneath, a 12-inch (305 mm) passive radiator fires towards the floor. Its stroke has been extended to keep up with the driver and amplifier, which takes the bass deeper.

Cloth grille and lacquers

The S/550 comes with a cloth grille held by hidden magnets. A Premium Wood grille with wooden slats is available as an option and sold separately. The cabinet comes in Piano Black or Gloss White lacquer.

Stereo pair and Line Array

The rear panel groups the Speakon high level input, the low level and .1/LFE RCA inputs, an XLR LFE input and the matching outputs to link several subwoofers. Two S/550 as a stereo pair widen the soundstage, and six in a Line Array, three per side, form REL's most ambitious setup. The Airship Direct port takes an optional wireless receiver.
