Gloss black subwoofer with a carbon fibre driver standing in an entrance hall

Heir to the Reference range

The Carbon Special Black Label is the most refined medium-sized model in the Serie S: its 12-inch active driver, with an all-carbon fibre cone, is closely related to the one in the No.31 Reference. The cabinet measures 48.8 cm wide, 41 cm high and 56.5 cm deep, for 44.5 kg. It is sold individually, and both finishes are Black Label: Black with a Black Cloth grille, Dark Wood with a Premium Wood grille.

Long-stroke passive

Underneath, a 12-inch passive radiator fires towards the floor. REL developed it for this model and for the 212 Black Label, with a very long stroke that follows the fast movements of the active driver. The active driver itself handles three times the power of the one in the previous Carbon Special.

Linear Class D amplifier

The Linear Class D amplifier pairs a Class A/B power supply with a Class D output stage. Rated at 900 W, it delivers peaks of 1250 to 1400 W. The rear panel offers the Speakon high level input, the low level and .1/LFE RCA and XLR inputs, level, crossover and phase controls, and the Airship Direct port for an optional wireless receiver.

Two black subwoofers with wooden slat grilles, three-quarter view

Premium Wood grille

The Premium Wood grille with its wooden slats lets air move far more freely than a cloth grille, and its magnetic mounting stays hidden. It comes with the Dark Wood version; the Black version is supplied with the Black Cloth grille. As a stereo pair or in a Line Array of six subwoofers, three per side, the Carbon Special suits medium-sized rooms as well as very large ones.

Black = Black Label, Black Cloth grille; Dark Wood = Black Label, Premium Wood grille
