The Tzero MKIII is the smallest REL subwoofer: a cube measuring 21.6 cm wide, 24.1 cm high and 26 cm deep. It is designed for offices, libraries, bedrooms and flats, where a large subwoofer would not fit. It suits compact two-way speakers with 10 to 13 cm bass drivers, extending the bottom of their range. The subwoofer is sold individually.
Its 6.5-inch (165 mm) long-throw driver fires towards the floor. The cone is made entirely of aluminium and backed by a paper damping element, which doubles its rigidity compared with the previous generation. Bass gains impact and body while keeping the agility of a small driver.
Like the larger models of the brand, the Tzero MKIII accepts a High Level connection through a Speakon socket, which receives the same signal as the speakers without drawing power from the amplifier. A low-level RCA input and a .1/LFE input with its own level control complete the panel, together with volume and crossover controls. A 100 W NextGen Class D amplifier drives the whole and runs very cool.
The 19 mm MDF cabinet is glued and braced like those of the larger models. It receives five coats of black or white lacquer applied by hand, sanded between each coat and then polished. The feet and badge are machined from solid aluminium, bead-blasted and anodised.
