Advanced Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC) system that eliminates flow variations within the magnet. This system reduces the distortion to a minimum significantly in comparison with traditional speakers.
The latest generation of wood fiber cones, including a new impregnation and post-assembly protection method. The Dali Epicon speakers are not only designed but also manufactured in our Dali plant in Denmark.
Optimized for the Epicon range. A wide and extremely soft horizontal dispersion.
6 individual thicknesses of MDF glued together for rigid construction that reduces resonances. The rounded shape extolves virtually all static waves.
Absolute summit of the range Epicon, the Epicon 8 offers an incredibly rich and detailed sound that will impress you and captivate your senses. This pregnant is the fruit of a passionate and tireless quest to achieve perfection.

The design of magnetic systems has been a DALI specialty for many years. For the Epicon 8, we simply chose to push the limits of what was proposed in the upscale speakers until today. We have been leading to improve the magnetic system that we would equip the Epicon 8 in order to reduce distortion to a level still ever reached.
For this, we had to conceive a revolutionary solution: the Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC). This system offers the optimal physical properties: very high magnetic conductivity and very low electrical conductivity (about 1/10 000 of that of iron). The CMS allows an effective reduction of distortion caused by mechanical losses within the magnetic system.
The high magnetic conductivity is an important vector in the elimination of the phenomenon of hysteresis. The non-conductive nature on the electrical plane of the SMC eliminates the induction generated by the modulation of the magnetic fields and significantly reduces the eddy currents on the center piece, generated by the movements of the coil.
The reduction of the distortion thus obtained is easily measurable and clearly audible.
In order to provide a subtle and aerial reproduction of the high frequencies, the Epicon 8 is equipped with the Tweeter Dali hybrid module. This module consists of a 29 mm ultralight flexible dome tweeter, associated with a 10x55mm tape tweeter that allows optimal reproduction of the smallest detail covering a larger palette on the spectrum of the high Frequencies. For years, Dali has been perfecting this technology that brings you the best of these two solutions.
Low resonance frequency, high power, ability to withstand strong sound pressure without distortion, these are the qualities of our oversized dome tweeter. The ultrafin magnetic fluid allowing cooling offers a very high saturation threshold, allowing increased power and impeccable mastery of the spool of the coil, even at a high level of acoustic pressure.
The ribbon tweeter offers a vast dispersion of high frequencies and covers a large range on high frequencies. Bridling at 10 kHz, the tape ribbon comes from 15 kHz and rises far beyond 30 kHz, exceeding the limit of the frequencies audibly by the human ear.
The association of the two tweeters allows optimal control of the high frequencies, restored without resonance and without distortion. The hybrid tweeter module offers a gentle rendering and a very large horizontal dispersion that is one of the elements of the traditional Dali sound signature. Every detail counts. Thus, the façade of the module was designed to promote an optimal horizontal dispersion.
By relying on our experience and our unmatched know-how in the design of speakers, our team has fully designed and developed the speakers who equip the Dali Epicon 8. But above all, since 2009, we do not let the care of making this element So criticism of sound restitution to anyone other than us, in our own Dali plant in Denmark.
DALI's sound philosophy is based, among other things, on the implementation of technologies to reduce mechanical losses as much as possible. In fact, we have been among the first to focus on controlling the frequency response by a meticulously balanced design of the various components of our speakers. It is the voltage and the current provided by the amplifier which must be the main factor of the sound restitution of our speakers, and not the speaker itself, which must offer the greatest possible neutrality.
The wood fiber cones have been found to be a key element for the finest, detailed and most dynamic restitution of the musical message, while ensuring a lowest loss possible information transmitted by the source. The wood fibers provide exemplary rigidity to the paper membrane and features for optimized speaker operation. The rigidity of our paper cone and wood fibers is simply exemplary.
Mounted on a low-loss rubber suspension and relaxing an extruded aluminum salad bowl, the cone can operate optimally, without any constraint. The assembly of the different loudspeaker components is done using extremely precise tools to ensure perfect alignment.
Each face of the Epicon 8 is composed of 6 individual thicknesses of MDF glued together. The stiffness of the cabinet of the Epicon 8 is provided by a spine of a thickness of 63mm, 10 mm more than for the Epicon 2 and Epicon 6, resulting from the assembly of several thicknesses of MDF. The machining of the port locations and the connection terminal is made with the greatest accuracy.
With a total thickness of 33mm, the frontal baffle is totally inert and guarantees optimum energy transmission emitted by the speakers in acoustic energy. The curve baffle is also an important factor in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the cabinet.
Inside, the Epicon 8 is divided into two identical bedrooms for low loud speakers and has another separate bedroom for the medium speaker. The bass speaker chambers optimize the setting of the box identically but at the same time completely independent for each speaker. The medium speaker chamber allows the reproduction of Critical TELLS frequencies than those of the human voice without any interference with the rest of the system.
For this reason, you will discover two bass ports at the back of the cabinet, positioned as close as possible to the low speakers to minimize turbulence. At the bottom of the enclosure, you will find the connection terminal mounted in its own slot, isolated from the dynamic variations of the pressure inside the Bass Reflex rooms.
These separations as well as the internal reinforcements have been positioned optimally inside the enclosure. In accordance with DALI philosophy with respect to timing optimization in all its aspects, absolutely free air flow is of fundamental importance for optimal sound reproduction.
